As Summer winds down in the great Tri-star state, it’s time to plan for some Fall fun! You’re looking for the best, most unique to Tennessee activities to check out this Fall and we’ve got you covered. Here are our top 10 Tennessee activities you need to do this Fall:
- Take a hike.
No, no wait. We don’t mean you should get out of our great state; we think you should get out and explore it. Henry Horton State Park, Radnor Lake, Harpeth River State Park, Shelby Bottoms Greenway, Percy Warner Park – the list of beautiful Tennessee trails is endless and the Fall weather is perfect for hitting these local paths.
2. Feast on some BBQ.
Tennessee has some delicious food options, from the well-known hot chicken to the best homemade biscuits. We also know a thing or two about barbecue here. Be sure your Fall includes trying Tennessee’s take on this Southern staple (we hear some of the best places are in Clarksville, Tennessee, just north of Nashville).
3. Visit a cave.
Rain or shine, it’s always a good time to visit a cave because the temperature stays the same underground! Check out the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park near the Kentucky border or Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee for awesome rock formations, endless passageways and cool Fall climates (all year round)!
4. Drive through the foliage.
October is the best time to catch the leaves changing in Tennessee. There is nothing more serene than being surrounded by fall foliage. Take a drive through the rolling hills or venture out of Middle Tennessee to take in Lookout Mountain and the Great Smoky Mountain views. For an even more unique experience, head over to the Tennessee Central Railway Museum and enjoy a train ride through the best Fall foliage in Middle Tennessee.
5. Check out a football game.
Fall means it’s football time in Tennessee. Cheer on your favorite team – whether it’s the bright orange University of Tennessee Volunteers or the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium!
6. Visit a fair.
The nights start getting shorter and the heat wears off earlier. The perfect combination for enjoying one of Tennessee’s local fairs. A quick search for local Tennessee street and craft fairs reveals a multitude of dates. Enjoy local county fairs and the Tennessee State Fair as well (come September).
Even if you aren’t a fan of any particular sporting event, Fall is the perfect time to tailgate. A mix of delicious food, gorgeous weather, and fun, this is a Tennessee activity you won’t want to miss out on.
8. Play at a pumpkin patch or corn maze.
No Fall is complete without a visit to a pumpkin patch or corn maze. Although this fun Fall activity isn’t unique to Tennessee, we couldn’t leave it off our list and we’ve got some pretty great spots to highlight too. Stop in at Lucky Ladd Farms, Ring Farm, Boo at the Nashville Zoo and Hermitage Ghost Tours for some classic Fall fun.
9. Enjoy a festival.
Whether it’s music or food, arts or culture, Tennessee has a festival this Fall for you. To name just a few, check out Franklin’s Pilgrimage Festival and Nashville’s Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival in September, Spring Hill’s Whole Hog Festival and Franklin’s Pumpkinfest in October, as well as Oktoberfest all across the state!
10. Protect your home or business.
September is the peak month for residential burglaries in Tennessee. Which means, Fall is the perfect time to make sure your home or business is well-protected. We can help make this a fun Fall activity by providing the best custom designed security or smart home system for your needs.
